Flat rack containers (also known as flatracks) are available as both 20’ and 40’ containers and consist of a floor structure with a high loading capacity composed of a strong steel frame, wooden floor and two end walls which can be either fixed or collapsible. The end walls are stable enough to allow cargo securing means to be attached and several flat racks to be stacked on top of one another – in the same way as general purpose containers.
Flat racks can also be lashed together to create a larger service area for overweight cargoes to be loaded across and the wooded floor can be drilled into to help firmly secure cargo to the container and means of transport.
Lashing rings run along the side rails, corners and floor of flat rack containers and provide additional securing points for the cargo, the lashing rings can take loads of up to 2000kg on 20’ flat racks and up to 4000kg on 40’ flat racks.
Many 20’ flat rack containers have forklift pockets to help with transportation, 40’ flat racks have gooseneck tunnels at each end and in addition, they are often equipped with lashing winches with 2 metric ton lashing belts.
