[two_third] Refrigerated containers (also known as reefer containers) are available in 20’ and 40’ sizes and are used for the transport of perishable goods which need to be at a constant temperature throughout transportation, these goods are divided into chilled goods and frozen goods, depending on the specified transport temperature needs. They include cargo such as fruit, vegetables, meat and dairy products such as butter and cheese.

Refrigerated containers can also be supplied to high cube container dimensions which are particularly useful for voluminous and light goods such as fruit and flowers. The vast majority of refrigerated containers are now supplied with fully integral refrigeration units which can keep internal temperatures between +25 and -25 degrees centigrade. The refrigeration units are powered by the vessels power supply whilst in transit and whilst at port they are connected to the freight terminals power supply, they can also be fitted with diesel generators (or ‘power packs’) which can also power the cooling system.

Refrigerated containers are often fitted with hook rails which meat and other goods can be hung neatly within the container. [/two_third]
